I haven't used it, to be honest. This product requires you to download an app with little info from a strange Chinese source. It is in the regular app store, but as we see regularly, this is no guarantee against scams.To further add suspicion, the apps name is prodigytec while the device is labeled provirtec.There is no company info, address, name, or anything in the manual or on the box.I don't trust it.My information security is too important for me to risk apps from strange companies.

The Hygrometer Thermometer works as advertised, providing accurate readings for temperature and humidity. However, the biggest drawback is the requirement to create an account and maintain an online connection just to use it. This unnecessary step adds frustration to what should be a simple device. While the smart features may appeal to some, I prefer the simplicity of a "dumb" thermometer that works right out of the box with no extra steps. If you value ease of use and privacy, this may not be the best option.

I wanted something that would allow me to monitor the temps in our band room while we were away. We had been curious how much humidity and the temps would swing while we are away and this seemed to be the perfect device to do so.Well, it is sadly not.Upon getting it, I followed the instructions to have the device monitor the temps and humidity through the app, though, the app is very limited to the data that is captured. There is a bar graph, that is supposed to give you a visual representation of the temps and humidity. And, it only captured the data when I was looking at the device though the app. I have tried to reset the device, reconnect the device to my phone and app, and it will only capture data when the app is open.This is not what I had in mind with this device.Unless there is an update to fix this, it will remain 3 stars. Also, there were quite a few times that the app would force close on its own.

I don't care what the purpose or utility of the electronic gadget might be - in this case a remote-monitoring hygrometer - when the "thing" only functions with an "app" that - upon scrutiny - is pure, unadulterated spyware for your phone. I read the permissions (offshore, foreign origin) and deleted it promptly from my phone. No thanks! I just hope it's really gone and is not still in there sniffing my phone activity with some hidden artifacts. Honestly, who really knows? Stay away from this and don't risk being a victim. Better safe than sorry.

I don't love the gadgets that require you to download some random app in order to use it. This is one such device. Other than having to use some generic app in order to use it, it seems to sense the environment all right, but it's not for me.

There's good and bad with this one, so I guess it depends on your intended use.First, the pro's:1) it seems very accurate compared to my other devices, 2) it's small, compact and easily placed or hung where you need it. 3) I was able to download the app and connect it pretty quicklyNow, the not so great parts:1) I like that it has app connectivity, but it's very annoying to have to create yet another login for a simple device that really shouldn't necessitate an account. 2) it connects by bluetooth and not wifi, so it only updates when you are near to the device which kind of rules out any remote monitoring abilities. Considering this, it also makes point #1 even more annoying. 3) this device is advertised that it refreshes every 2.5 seconds, which is why I purchased this specific model, because it want to be able to quickly compare room to room differences and many other devices take longer to provide a valid reading. Although this one does update every 2.5 seconds, it however, does NOT seem to give an accurate reading right that quickly (at least for the temperature, the humidity did seem accurate immediately). In reading the instructions, it states that the device needs 30 minutes to "acclimate" to the environment after initially being turned on, which is about the same amount of time that it took for the temperature to read correctly. After the first 30 min the 2.5 second updates seem very accurate. But for my intended purpose, which is comparison between rooms - I don't know for sure if this device will give valid results unless I allow the full 30 min to re-acclimate to the new environment(room), which isn't useful for me. So it won't be good for this type of use.If you don't need to move it around too quickly, and you don't need remote monitoring, then yes I would still say it is a good and accurate device.

I grabbed one of the Provirtec Climate Master Smart Thermo-Hygrometer to help us monitor our homes indoor temperature and humidity. I do have several other types of hygrometers across the house but wanted one that would work with either bluetooth or an internet connection. This version uses bluetooth to connect to the phone/app.The device comes with a set of instructions that will guide you to where to download and install the app for your specific devices. Setup is straight forward and the instructions include a few options should you need to trouble shoot.Once you're setup you will need to create an account on their site to use the Thermo-Hygrometer. You can use it by just logging in and seeing the current temperature and humidity as well you can set up automation to perform whichever tasks you would want and when they should be executed. However because those would be tasks set for specifics, such as a humidity reading that is too high, they would only monitor those issues when they occur and you would not see a push notification if you're out of bluetooth range.A big issue I am having with this device is I wanted something that would take readings and log them across the day which would then allow me to see the changes across a time period. However it seems that I am only able to see the temp/humidity at the time I log into the device after which it is logged to my phone.My biggest issue with this device is the readings it is giving me. We keep our house fairly cool and have multiple hygrometers across the rooms. They typically all read within a half degree and a percentage point or two in humidity from each other. After 9 days of running the device I am seeing temperatures within a reasonable deviation of the others we keep in the house but the humidity is typically 7%-12% higher. Even when kept close to each other for a 24 hour period the variation is much higher than you'd expect.This could be so much better as they make multiple other devices that would allow you to monitor many aspects of your home/apartment. But being bluetooth you are not able to monitor from an offsite location. If it is capable of doing any more than I have not seen found info on those functions. It would be a much better product if it could do temp/humidity readings and log them internally waiting for you to log on.It would also be nice to see a date/time stamp for the readings it does store on the phone. Currently I see only the day of the week with a time for each data point but not the actual month/day. When checking those points I see only the day of the week and time, followed by theWhen logging the data by day you will only see the time stamp and temp/humidity, while for the week you will see the day(Mon, Tue, etc...) but no time. For the month you will only see a day number such as 1, 2, 3 etc.. but if you didn't start the device on the first of the month, those numbers wont correspond to the actual day/date but just the order in which they were taken. The year is similar to the month, you will only see "Month1, Month 2, etc..." but not January, February, etc.. For those, like myself who like to track and monitor these things it may become confusing without those markers. I also do not see anywhere that you would be able to export the data to a spreadsheet if so desired.

My plan for this device was to leave it in an unheated shed where it would monitor the temperature and humidity and alert me if those reading went outside of my safe range. I knew when I ordered it that the device didn't have any display so I would have to use an app to get the readings. I installed the Prodigytec app (version 1.0.11 build 95) on my android phone. I had to set up an account on the app, which needed to know my location for some reason. I then put batteries in the device and put the device in the shed. I did a check on the app while in the shed and the temperature and humidity that was reported seemed reasonable. A few hours later, back in the house, I checked the app again. This time it said there was an update needed to the device firmware. I approved the upgrade but it failed to update. It kept loosing connection to the device. I eventually had to stand next to the device for the upgrade to take. Over the course of a week or so multiple upgrades were required, each time I needed to be very close to the device. I'm now on firmware version 1.1.1.1.1.2. The real problem is that the device and app still do not work like I want them to work. The app only reports the temp and humidity for duration that the app is being viewed on my phone. The device does not seem to store any historical data and the app seems to only retain data for the moments that I asked it to display the information. Not at all what I was lead to think the device and app were capable of doing. In addition the Bluetooth range seems to be overstated. To get reading for the device I need to be within clear site of it. Having walls (interior or exterior) between my phone and the device seems to cause it to not connect a majority of the time. I gave it two stars because when I can get a reading it does seem to be accurate.

I appreciate that it has a smart app, however not having a display on the unit itself makes it so I have to pull my phone out just to check the temp. I use it in my car so that I have a good idea of the internal temp if I have to leave my dog for a minute.

Why do I need to create yet another online account to upload data to a remote server to use a locally connected device?I don't know if its just an ios app problem, but the only data this thing is recording is when I manually refresh it, and it does not appear to be logging data at any other time than when I am manually refreshing the app.I wanted to see temperature data over time not just from when I am connected to the device and manually refreshing the sensor.I'm disappointed with this device, it seems to be incapable of recording data unless your phone is in range and has always enabled location access so it can stay connected constantly in the background, It does not appear to offer any limited on-device storage for when your phone isn't in range and downloaded later, but if it does I'm not seeing it using the ios app, as I only see the times my phone was in range, and I was manually refreshing it.Other sensors I've used have a fixed amount of on-device storage that logged data without being connected and could be downloaded when connected to fill in any gaps, could be used with or without an online account, at the users choosing, and did not require permissions for always on location access.For my use, i don't intend to have my phone in range of this device at all times or with always on location access, so this device wont work for me, but other than that if you're fine with those limitations then it may work for you.
